  • Mason County Recognizes 32 Employees for Years of Service - In a ceremony held October 3, 2017 at the Colonial House in downtown Shelton, 32 County employees were

  • Mason County Civil Service Commission Vacancy - The Board of Mason County Commissioners is seeking applications to fill a position on the Mason County Civil Service Commission. This is for a six year term that will end on December 31, 2023. (10/10/2017)
  • Building #8 One Day Closure October 4th, 2017 - Mason County's Community Services Department located at 615 West Alder Street Building 8 will be closed for business October 4th, 2017. The departments biannual all staff training will be conducted at the county public works building. (09/27/2017)
  • Mason County Burn Ban - With the continued fall weather conditions bringing an increase in humidity and wildland fuel moistures, Mason County Department of Community Development in conjunction with the Mason County Fire Chiefs Association is lifting the Stage II Fire Restrictions. The burn ban now reverts to Stage I as follows: This burn ban applies to OUTDOOR BURNING, including land clearing and yard debris; with the exception of recreational fires in approved concrete, stone, or metal pits like those commonly found in campgrounds. The use of charcoal briquettes, gas and propane barbeques will continue to be allowed under the ban. (09/21/2017)

  • Mason County Burn Ban - The Mason County Community Development Director, as acting Fire Marshal, and in partnership with the Mason County  Fire Chiefs’ Association, has determined that current weather conditions within Mason County have created substantial fire dangers and that there is a need to enact restriction on outdoor burning to all lands regulated by Mason County.   This burn ban applies to OUDOOR BURNING, including land clearing and yard debris; and INCLUDES prohibition of recreational fires. The use of charcoal briquettes, gas and propane barbeques will continue to be allowed under the ban. (09/05/2017)
  • Protection During Poor Air Quality - Mason County is currently experiencing unhealthy air conditions for sensitive groups that could continue throughout next week due to the fires. Those groups include people with heart and lung disease or stroke, older adults, pregnant women and children who are all at greater risk from the presence of particles in the air.  Staying indoors or relocating to a place with better air quality is the best form of protection for these sensitive groups or others that are concerned about the current air quality conditions.   • Request for Proposal Mental Health & Chemical Dependency Sales & Use Tax - Mason County residents who are mentally ill, chemically dependent or who have co-occurring disorders will benefit from programs funded through the Sales & Use Tax program. Mason County is soliciting project proposals to fund services from the Sales & Use Tax from July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018. The total amount available is $250,000. Projects must be eligible activities as outlined in the application packet. (04/18/2017)
  • Mason County Recreation Area Baseball Fields 6&7 Dedication - The Board of Mason County Commissioners would like to extend an invitation to the public to celebrate the opening of the recently renovated baseball fields 6& 7 at Mason County Recreation Area (MCRA), located at 2100 East Johns Prairie Road.   • Request for Proposal Homeless Housing Grant Funds - Mason County is soliciting project proposals for funding from the homeless housing funds: the Consolidated Homeless Grant (CHG), and Homeless Housing Grant (ESSHB 2163). State funding (CHG) totals approximately $233,573, Housing and Essential Needs (HEN) totals approximately $569,058 and local funding (2163) totals approximately $300,000. Mason County may consider making two-year renewable funding commitments (03/28/2017)
  • Candidate Search - Housing RFP Scoring Panel - Mason County is seeking 7 dedicated volunteers with interest and experience in services for homeless people to join an important rating, ranking and performance review panel with the purpose of making non-binding recommendations to Mason County on the use of the Consolidated Homeless Grant funds and ESSHB 2163 Local Recording Fees.
