Maintenance Schedule & Required Service Providers
  • Maintenance for your septic system can be an inspection, service and/or repair, if necessary. The following maintenance schedule is defined in WAC 246-272A-0270 and includes a list of approved service providers for each system type.
  • Pumpers are certified to pump your septic tank and evaluate its condition.
  • Operation and maintenance specialists are certified to evaluate the functioning of all of the system components and make recommendations about necessary corrective actions.
  • Homeowners can submit inspection forms for certain types of systems. See chart.

*Mason County Public Health recommends a Certified Operation and Maintenance Specialist inspect these systems.
Tanks should be pumped as needed. Frequency depends on age of system, number of people using system, size of tank, what you put into system, and other factors.
