Death Certificate

Death Certificates can be obtained at the Mason County Public Health, Community and Family Health only for persons that passed away in Mason County within 60 days of the death.* Certified copies of death certificates can be obtained for $20.00 per copy.

Certified copies can be issued while you wait as long as the certificate of death is on hand at the County and is not pending cause of death. The County only holds death certificates for 60 days from the death of the individual and are thereafter forwarded to the State Center for Health Statistics for filing and archiving. You can reach the State Center of Health Statistics by calling (360) 236-4300.

(*Death certificates that have been filed electronically will always be available at the county level regardless of the county in which the death occurred.)
