Though preventable, tooth decay is the most common chronic disease of childhood. A child whose mouth is hurting can’t sleep and may experience delays in speech development, paying attention in school, and be at risk for future health problems.
Children should have their teeth screened, by a dentist, by their first birthday.
Early dental care will protect your child’s baby teeth now and in the future. The Access to Baby and Child Dentistry (ABCD) program provides a child-friendly dentist for children, birth - 5 years, on Medicaid. ABCD services include: dental check-ups, fluoride treatments, parent education, and fillings, if needed.
