Mason County Public Health and Human Services supports healthy behaviors and knowledge by facilitating the Shelton Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition.
Shelton Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition
The Shelton Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition began in January, 2014 to address some of the high risks health behaviors and needs in Shelton, Washington. The Coalition is made up of a diverse group of community partners and passionate community members dedicated to alcohol and substance abuse prevention. A key goal is to work on drug prevention strategies that support and reach all community youth.
Support efforts to reduce substance abuse and related harmful behaviors, and to increase healthy behaviors among youth by developing and implementing strategies in a culturally relevant and competent way.
Highlighted Project: Prescription Take-Back-Boxes
Perscription Take Back Boxes
A new drug prevention project was introduced in April, 2015 to highlight the prescription drug take-back boxes available in Mason County. We can all help to protect our kids, families and environment by disposing of our expired or unused prescription medications properly. Mason County has two prescription drug take-back boxes, located at the Mason County Sheriff’s Office in Shelton and at the North Mason Regional Fire Authority in Belfair.

A special thanks goes out to the SADD Club and Mason Youth ‘N Action for all of their hard work on a great video created as part of the drug prevention project!
