- Two petition forms are required to file an appeal of the value of your parcel.
- Each parcel requires a separate appeal form
- All forms and documents are to be filed in duplicate including photos.
- Photos are to be mounted on sheets 8 ½ by 11 inches with explanation of the photos.
Remember to include a copy of the Assessor’s Notice of Change of Value
Deadline date for filing an appeal is on or before July 1st of the assessment year or within thirty (30) days of when an assessment, value change notice or other determination notice is mailed to the taxpayer. If the filing deadline falls upon a Saturday, Sunday or holiday, the petition must be filed on or postmarked no later than the next business day.
Petition must be delivered to BOE office on or before the deadline date.
Appeals mailed after deadline date will not be timely filed. The postmark is used to determine whether the information is timely provided.
Appellants are encouraged to exchange valuation information, including documentary evidence, at a reasonable time, but no later than seven (7) business days,excluding holidays, prior to the hearing.
Please contact the Assessor’s office and talk with the appraiser who appraised your property. Many questions can be answered to your satisfaction, without filing an appeal.
