The Mason County Draft Shoreline Inventory and
Characterization Report and Map Folio |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Mason County Draft Shoreline Inventory and Characterization Report and Map Folio has been prepared by Environmental Science Associates (ESA) in partnership with Mason County, the City of Shelton, Squaxin Island Tribe, Skokomish Indian Tribe, Washington State Department of Ecology, and members of the Joint Technical Advisory Committee (JTAC). Herrera Environmental Consultants and Coastal Geologic Services are also contributing authors. The Draft report is now available for review. It should be noted that this document is preliminary in nature and that additional review and technical input will be provided by the JTAC, Ecology and County as the Shoreline Master Program update process moves forward. The current document will likely undergo future revisions based on feedback from the public and document reviewers. A final version of the report will be posted on the County’s web page at a later date. The purpose of this Draft document is to characterize the shorelines within Mason County, Washington, and describe the existing conditions of shorelines today. The report relies on existing information, much of which is Geographical Information System (GIS) data, as well as existing technical studies. Data has been collected from the County, state agencies, federal entities, tribal groups and non-profit organizations. This work is funded by a state grant through Washington Department of Ecology. To facilitate understanding of the Inventory and Characterization Report a Reach Sheet Guide has been provided for you. The Public comment period for the Inventory and Characterization Report ended August 31, 2011.
