Because of population density, the Olympic Regional Clean Air agency (ORCAA), under RCW 70.94.743, has designated certain areas in Mason County as Urban Growth Areas (UGA). These are areas where all outdoor burning is prohibited.*

These areas are in and around Shelton, Allyn, and Belfair. A map showing the coverage of these areas can be viewed at the County Permit Center, or by clicking to the GIS link.

*NOTE:
Recreational fires, under strict guidelines, are the only exception to the UGA restrictions. BBQ's or campfires in approved locations shall burn charcoal and/or firewood only and are not to be used for debris disposal. No exceptions !
