The Building Division helps the public
obtain the required permits for construction.
Many structures fall within the categories overseen by
the permit system. Projects range from retaining walls, carports and garages,
to storage buildings, residences, multiple dwelling units, commercial
buildings, bulkheads, shoreline construction, remodeling, additions, manufacted
homes and park trailers just to name a few.
The Building Division reviews applications in order to
ensure the proposed projects meet building codes. The Building Division inspects construction to assure consistency to the scope of the permits.
The Building Division also provides the public with advice and written
materials on the permitting process and requirements of the adopted building
code.
The permitting system and building code act
in concert to protect the safety of homeowners and the public. Permits
allow county personnel to inspect construction to make sure it meets code.
Correct methods of construction ensure that the project will meet the
needs of its owner and provide safety to private and/or public users.
The Building Division conducts plan reviews, issuance
of permits for, and the inspection of current construction projects and
all other duties as required by the adopted codes. The Building Division is responsible for enforcement of the:
